If every one of every two households in Anchorage spent $50 a month locally for three months, the total revenue injected into the area’s economy would be nearly $10 million. Spending locally doesn’t just help businesses directly; it also helps the community through indirect circulation of money through the economy. A dollar will circulate in the local economy at least three-to-four times before leaving the city.

Anchorage First is a program developed by the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau, Anchorage Downtown Partnership, LLC, the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce, and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, encourages residents of Anchorage to spend $50 locally for three months and help generate that much needed boost to the local economy.
